Description
Sunscreen also known as sunburn cream or sun scream is a gel spray/lotion or any topical product that protects the exposed skin to sunlight, by absorbing or reflecting Ultra Violet rays of the sun. They are used to prevent sunburn and premature aging (e.g., leathery skin, wrinkles) and also help to reduce the risk of skin cancer, and sun sensitivity caused by medications such as tetracycline, sulfa drugs, phenothiazines, etc.
As a general guide, sunscreen is applied thoroughly to all the exposed skin 30 minutes before the sun exposure.
And avoid smoking, if applying spray form of sunscreen since the spray form is flammable and may catch fire near heat or open flame. American Cancer Society has recommended the use of sunscreen to prevent squamous cell carcinomas (a form of cancer).
